Eyes

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a trauma-informed therapy is the leading treatment for resolving symptoms of trauma and PTSD.

​

EMDR is an 8 stage approach. You can expect to start with rapport building and history taking. In phase two, we will work on coping skills to manage any distress that you might experience during the process.

In stages 3-6 we will process through traumatic material by use of bilateral stimulation. We will also seek to identify the vivid visual image related to the memory, a negative belief about self, related emotions and body sensations. We will also identify an adaptive belief to work toward.

Phases 7 and 8 involve tracking progress and making a plan for any future triggers.
